Widows Perch

1982, Battery Park Landfill, NY. 30’H. Timber.

Located at the waterfront on a diagonal with the statue of liberty. A braced telephone pole imbedded at a 60° angle with a perch notched into its top. The angle allowed the perch to sway and rock in time with the tide. Facing the sea, aligned with the Statue of Liberty, a structure for waiting and watching.
