Perseverance Park
1993
Syracuse, NY.
Design of an urban park providing step-seating, performance/activities area and landscaping. Each column of the brick colonnade documents an important date in the development of the city. The information is embedded in the design of the brick coursing. Pattern provides the visual interest. Should the viewer spend the time, chronological information is revealed, allowing the design to be interactive visually and intellectually. Step-seating and plantings. Downtown urban redevelopment.
Collaboration: M. Paul Friedberg, landscape architect
Commission: City of Syracuse
