Vancouver, Canada. Two Sea Towers, one located at Drake Street Promontory; the other, at Marinside Crescent End. “At sea” and “at land,” their site is slightly off shore yet reached by ramping or “gang-plank”.  At high tide they will seem “at sea.” Each tower height is accessed by stairs–a spiral and a ziggurat. As a person climbs, they are continuously oriented to land then sea then land then sea. Lighting is central to the drama of approach and passage. Once inside, shadows are cast upon perforated metal and plasticized canvas – further activating the Towers – as if actors were moving behind scrims on a stage.
